Backup Administrator
Job Description
- Problem determination and resolution on a 24x7 basis.
- Telephonic and Email based User/Vendor Management.
- Client installation
- Backup, Restore monitoring & Trouble shouting
- Include integrated best-of-breed hardware and software products.
- Create suggested target backup schedule and operational plan.
- Quantify the benefits and cost savings that can be achieved with an Enterprise Backup solution.
- Conduct a formal presentation and basic product functional overview to familiarize the customer with the current issues and future recommendations.
- Configuration ,monitoring & analyzing event, alert logs and appropriate actions taking, strong trouble shooting skills in Backup environment and solving problems in a very short time
- Meeting SLA in time to fix the errors and problems.
- Preparing scripting tools for automation.
- Vendor coordination
- Incident management
- Change management
- Configuration management
- Log monitoring/maintenance
- Remote storage administration
- Skills: Backup & Restore Level - 2
- Should be well versed with backup and recovery planning and implementation.
- Expertise on Netbackup / Tivoli Storage Manager/ Backup reporter, Unix & Windows administration
- Experience in Windows Administration – Level 2
- Should have used a monitoring framework (HP Mercury Site Scope, BMC Remedy, Cisco works, Concord E)
- Pro-active measures and preventive measure for problems/errors.
- Should have worked Scripting knowledge.
- Should have OS experience in Windows / Unix Cluster environment
- Exposure to mid range & high end servers
- Exposure on clustering & HA using VERITAS clustering products
- Experienced in Production Server Environment.
- Documentation skills
